Pottery Taster Lesson
Pottery taster session, learning the basics of how to make pottery on a wheel, then designing and making a couple pieces on the wheel choosing from items such as coffee cups, cereal bowls, plant pots and vases. After the pieces are thrown on the wheel you can choose to decorate the items to your own design using coloured ceramic slips, the pieces will then be fired and glazed. People are often surprised at just how good their pieces are!
Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for your pieces to be fired; your creations dry out for around a week then go into the kiln to be fired very slowly up to 1000 degrees C, then they are taken out, I glaze them with transparent glaze and they are put back into the kiln for an even hotter firing, after 2 days of this firing they are ready to collect or be posted to you.
DATES AND TIMES
Either morning, afternoon or evening in the week, arranged mutually. Email for info or to book in with your voucher. Usually booking about 4 weeks ahead.
I am always asked how long the session is and the answer is that it depends on the individual and what you are making, we go at your pace until you have made two pieces (with support and guidance) for some that takes less than an hour for some it’s a bit longer. I say allow yourself 1.30hrs for the session which will give you plenty of time.
The main ‘work’ of the pieces is the firing, as each piece is fired twice it’s a long process after you have created your pieces and the materials and firings is the main cost.
The vouchers are valid for 18 months from date of purchase. *extended by any lockdowns or personal situations
TICKET PRICE
£85 per person including materials and firing.
*E GIFT VOUCHER*
On booking you will be sent a booking confirmation/receipt
If you would also like personalised gift voucher to be emailed, please provide name of recipient and any special message along your booking number to: kim@somersetceramics.co.uk
